The Area

Immediate vicinity and La Garnatilla

Casa Sihade offers a totally relaxing holiday in a charming small village,  La Garnatilla,  not far from the sea (15 minutes by car). The village is in the 'Costa Tropical' south of Granada. 

The village of La Garnatilla itself is visited by vans each day selling fresh bread, fish, fruit and vegetables, gas etc.

 

This is a very quiet location ideal for total relaxation on the sun terrace or long slow walks through the mountains and olive groves. It is also a good central point for sightseeing the surrounding areas.

 

There are weekly markets at several of the local towns, including Torrox (Monday), Motril (Tuesday), Almunecar (Friday) and Nerja.  Also nearby, there is an interesting moorish castle at Solabrene.

 

Motril

Motril, a 16th century market town, is our closest shopping area. There they have plenty of shops, supermarkets, boutiques, restaurants and bars where they still give free tapas (small bites of food) with your beer.

 

Don't forget to buy fish in one of the many local markets, or try them in one of the many local restaurants.

 

 

Other

Due to the excellent road system, Granada and the Alhambra palace are less than one hour drive away - and both very worth a visit.

The Sierra Nevada National Park, and the Alpujarra area with its white-washed villages, both make excellent walking areas and are close by.

Several coastal towns are even closer to hand, including Salobrena and Almunecar, where you can enjoy sandy beaches and a wealth of bars and restaurants. 

A little further afield, in the barren landscapes of Almeria, with their characteristic cactuses and prickly pears (as filmed in Lawrence of Arabia and more than 100 westerns), you can visit a national park - Parque Natural de Cabo de Gata-Nijar - which is a beautiful spot with quiet, unspoilt beaches and landscapes.

 

Local Activities

Many sports and activities are found nearby, including: golf, sailing, scuba diving, climbing, windsurfing, canoeing, cycling, tennis, hang-gliding, walking, horse-riding, jet ski, aqua park, trekking, snow skiing, snow boarding, snorkeling, swimming, bird watching, flora and fauna.

The property is approximately 15 minutes from the coast of southern Spain.
